Academy for Severe Handicaps and Autism (ASHA), Bengaluru was started in the year 1995 with the aim of creating a world class learning environment for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
ASHA’s mission is to render exceptional love, care, hope and educational assistance to children with special needs to help them develop and utilise their full potential.

Training and services provided in ASHA are as follows:
The services include comprehensive medical, psychological, developmental, family and social, psycho-educational and academic assessments for children with learning problems, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, delayed development and poor academic performance.
Early intervention: The early intervention unit addresses the needs of children under the age of six years. Children with various disabilities like cerebral palsy, developmental delay and autism spectrum disorder come to this centre.
Vocational training: Vocational training includes embroidery and stitching, painting, jewellery making, computer data entry and horticulture.
Other trainings provided by ASHA are:
Child guidance and home-based programme, social skills training, remedial training, behaviour management programme, art based therapy, computer and iPad training, hobby classes, counselling service, teacher training, awareness generation programs, lectures, demonstrations and workshops, guidance for inclusive education
Primary Education: It is a full day programme for children above six years who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Academic, non-academic and life skills training are taught using multiple teaching methods such as structured teaching, positive behavior support, use of social stories and visual communication.
