Amity University celebrates National Science Day

Amity University marked National Science Day with the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The event brought together esteemed scientists, academicians, and students to discuss the transformative role of science in shaping the future.

Chief Guest, Dr. NK Mehra, Vice President (International Affairs), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), highlighted the critical challenges humanity will face in the next 50 years, including clean energy, water scarcity, climate change, environmental pollution, and food security. He emphasized that strengthening STEM education, fostering innovation, bridging the skill gap, and promoting sustainability will be key in making India a developed nation by 2047. Encouraging students to think big and embrace failures, he urged them to explore novel approaches and drive change.

Dr. Seema Khanna, Deputy Director General, NIC, Ministry of Electronics & IT, stressed the importance of passion and perseverance in achieving success. She noted that AI and Cyber Security are among the most promising fields for young minds, given their rapid advancements and global impact.

Dr. Shital Garg, Scientist G, SSPL-DRDO, underscored the role of science in addressing complex challenges like poverty, inequality, and climate change. She stated that innovation is more than just creation—it fosters self-reliance, drives economic growth, and strengthens the nation.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, reflected on the significance of National Science Day, which commemorates Sir C.V. Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect. She emphasized Amity’s commitment to research and innovation, encouraging students to develop a scientific temperament and contribute to national progress.

The event featured a series of panel discussions and competitions, including:
🔹 Reshaping the World through AI
🔹 Raman’s Discovery and its Relevance to Future Science & Technology
🔹 Expanding Experience and Capacity for External Projects

Students also participated in Food Innovator’s Idea Pitch Competition, Food Photography Contest, Debate Competition, Poster Presentation, and a Science Quiz.

The celebration reinforced the power of science in driving innovation, fostering young leadership, and shaping a self-reliant India.
