Dressed in a traditional ‘Mekhela Chador’ and adorned with jewelry, Assam’s first artificially intelligent teacher, ‘Iris,’ promptly answered all questions from students at a private school.
When a student asked, “What is haemoglobin?” the humanoid responded with detailed information, according to a school teacher.
“Regardless of whether the questions were from their syllabus or on any topic, ‘Iris’ provided answers quickly, complete with examples and references,” said a spokesperson from Royal Global School.
The students were curious and eagerly engaged in various activities with the robot, the spokesperson added.
The children also enjoyed the robot’s ability to perform gestures like handshakes, making the learning process both fun and engaging.
‘Iris’ is equipped with a voice-controlled assistant that helps it respond to student queries with detailed explanations.
“The children are very excited because the artificially intelligent teacher has answers to their questions,” the school teacher said.
The robot was developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog.
‘Iris’ represents a significant advancement in integrating artificial intelligence into education, the teacher noted.
The introduction of ‘Iris’ marks a significant milestone in enhancing the learning experience and catering to diverse learning styles, the spokesperson added.
The private school plans to leverage the robot’s capabilities to personalize learning and make education more engaging for students in the northeast region.
