Banarasidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BCIHMCT), New Delhi was established in 1999 under the aegis of Shri Banarasidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society, a charitable society working in the field of health and education since 1952. BCIHMCT, New Delhi was the first hotel management institute established under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIP), Delhi awarding a four-year degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. It is approved by the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Delhi Govt and GGSIP University, Delhi grade BCIHMCT as an A+ category institute. The institute is also accredited by NAAC, an autonomous body under UGC, as a Quality Institution and also assessed and registered against the provisions of ISO 9001:2008 international standard.
BCIHMCT, New Delhi is situated amidst verdant surroundings near Business Center, Nehru Place at Kalkaji in New Delhi. The classrooms are spacious, well ventilated and equipped with training aids such as OHP and LCD projectors. The audio-visual rooms are equipped with LCD projectors, CD/VCR, player with TV OHP, and amplifier with speakers and slide projector. There are two computer labs hosting latest Pentium-IV computers with student terminal ratio as 1:6. All computers are connected through the Local area Network. Licensed System and application software are available to cover the entire syllabi. The institute also houses front office lab for training students in guest reservations, reception and billing, and housekeeping pantry lab with latest cleaning equipment. Other facilities include laundry and linen room, confectionery and bakery, basic training kitchen, advance training kitchen, larder-a cold kitchen for butchery preparation equipped with deep freezer, dining hall, thematic training restaurant with mock bar, model guest suite, quantity training kitchen, auditorium and conference room, sports center, canteen, hospital and bank. The institute library is equipped with 5000 meticulously selected books, journals and magazines in related area besides periodicals and journals providing needful reference material for research. A book bank facility in the library caters a set of standard textbooks covering all the subjects of a semester for each student. This set is provided to each student in the beginning of the semester. Photocopy facility is available to the students in the library. The library also facilitates e-Library and e- Journal Library.
Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology offers four year Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) programme designed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University - the affiliating university. The norms and standards for the delivery of the course - as laid down by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, and Government of India and the affiliating university, are followed at the institute. The BHMCT programme is divided into eight semesters, each of five months duration.
Eligibility Criteria: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination of CBSE Board or any equivalent examination with minimum 50 percent aggregate marks and should have English as a core or elective or functional subject. The admissions are strictly on merit basis through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
