Beacon High, Mumbai is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Founded by R K Khariwalla and K S Jamali in 2000 with 54 students, the school today boasts 700 students from pre nursery to class X with about 26 students in each class. The school is managed by RK Educational Foundation.
Beacon High was established with the objective of setting up an educational institution that would tap the innate intellectual curiosity of the child and channelise this sense of exploration to bring about all-round development.
The campus comprises an auditorium, a library, canteen, medical infirmary, well-equipped labs for physics, chemistry, biology and computer science and Educomp smart classes equipped with multimedia and whiteboards. The school hosts indoor games facilities, a basketball court, a swimming pool and a playground.
The subjects taught in primary school (class I to IV) are English, Hindi, Marathi (from class IV), mathematics, general science, social studies, environmental study approach to learning (ESAL), computer science, general learning and environmental education.
In middle school (class V to VII), the academic subjects offered are English, Hindi, Marathi, mathematics, science, history, geography, computer science and general learning.
In secondary school (class VIII to X), the academic subjects offered are English, Hindi, Marathi, mathematics, science (physics, chemistry, biology), environmental education, history, geography, computer science, home science, commercial studies, technical drawing application, physical education, environmental science and general learning.
For lower classes, teachers prepare materials such as game boards, flash cards and task cards to aid learning.
Extracurriculars
Students are trained in music, animation, games, yoga, karate, drama, art/craft, exceptional explorations, indoor games and SUPW.
Students from class I get hands-on experience in using technology and software. They learn web designing, animation and movie making.
Coaching is provided for sports and games such as basketball, swimming, table tennis, chess and carrom.
