During an election rally at Bardhaman-Durgapur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the issue of the School Service Commission (SSC) scam in West Bengal. He expressed concern for “genuine teachers and candidates” who lost their jobs due to this corruption and vowed to assist them. Modi emphasized his commitment to ensuring that the innocent do not suffer the consequences of corruption perpetrated by the TMC.
In response to this injustice, he directed the West Bengal BJP unit to establish a dedicated legal cell to provide support to affected individuals. Additionally, Modi stressed the importance of creating a social media platform to amplify their voices and garner public support. He assured the affected candidates of the BJP’s unwavering support, promising legal assistance and advocacy on their behalf.
Modi’s announcement follows a recent ruling by the Calcutta High Court, which deemed the recruitment process of the State Level Selection Test-2016 (SLST) in government-sponsored and aided schools as “null and void.” This decision has resulted in the loss of jobs for approximately 26,000 individuals, further highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue.
