Bengaluru: Odd semester exams pending, classes begin for next

May 17, 2021

College students in Bengaluru are facing a difficult situation as on one hand they are yet to complete odd semester exams and on the other online classes have begun for even semesters. Thus, increasing the apprehensions and concerns for both the semesters.

Universities like Visvesvaraya Technological University, Bangalore University and Maharani Cluster University were not able to complete their odd-semester examinations. Many exams were postponed due to the strike called by the transport employees and were scheduled after it would be withdrawn. However, after the strike was called off, the number of Covid cases rose rapidly only to force the government to shut colleges and educational institutions.

“Every time, I begin my online classes, the students look so tense. We teachers do not have a proper answer to their queries. They are wondering if the exams will be called off. As it is that they are going through online mode of study and top of that they are having to revise both the semester’s matter. They are of the view that they might forget if the examination gets postponed further,” said a lecturer from Maharani Cluster University.

“Students will not come down to colleges unless the Covid situation in the state improves. Till then, we must go on revising the old content. Presently, we are conducting one hour of class for odd semester and another two hours for even semesters,” said another teacher from GT group of institutions.
