Overview

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Started as a community service project in April 1954, the school’s management was taken over by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on May 18, 1957. The school offers classes from nursery through class XII and prepares pupils for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the CBSE. The school provides education in humanities, science and commerce streams at the senior secondary level.

Campus

The school campus is spread over 4.83 acres of land and hosts a well maintained library with over 50,000 books, two multimedia rooms fully equipped with LCD Projector, TV, VCD players, three computer rooms and a library of audio and video cassettes and CDs on each subject. The school also houses well equipped science labs, medical infirmary and a school book store.

The sports infrastructure includes facilities for badminton, basketball, cricket, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, kabbadi, table tennis, tennis, throw-ball, volley ball, judo and aerobics. The school also offers facilities for Yoga, athletics and drill.

Academics

Affiliated with CBSE, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi offers education from nursery through class XII. The school offers exposure to various materials and processes to every student to ensure optimal development of their mental faculties and channelise them into positive pursuit. Besides delivering education through text books, the school also offers realistic exposure to life, encourages analysis and discussions of real life situations and statistics leading to thinking skill development, audio-visuals and library-oriented programmes, remedial and enrichment programmes, educational tours and excursions and counselling services.

Admission

For admission to Nursery and Kindergarten, children should be 3 and 4 years of age respectively as on April 15 of the year in which admission is sought.

Admission for classes I to X is subject to availability of seats. Admission is granted on the basis of academic and co-curricular activities record at the previous school and student’s performance in the admission test.

For admission to class XI and XII, (Science) the student must have a score of more than 8.2 CGPA in class X and for admission to class XI and XII (Commerce) a score of more than 7.6 CGPA in class X is required.

Achievement

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi has conducted several student exchange programme with institutions across India and International Exchange programme with schools of Europe and South East Asian countries to enable children for overall understanding of the national scene and help inculcation of patriotism and National integration.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi has also been a proud recipient of the International School Award by the British Council.
