April 24, 2024

In a groundbreaking achievement, Bharti Panwar, a 12th-grade student at Heritage Girls School, has clinched the top position at the prestigious Heroes of Tomorrow National Idea and Innovation Competition hosted by BML Munjal University.

Bharti’s innovative project, Banana Paper, revolutionizes the use of agricultural waste by transforming banana tree stems into a versatile material. The competition witnessed fierce participation from over 500 students across different states, with Bharti rising to the challenge and securing a spot among the top 10 innovators.

The journey to success was not without its hurdles, but Bharti attributes her triumph to hard work and the invaluable guidance of her mentor, Dr. Mamta Lodha (HOD, Science). Dr. Lodha’s expertise and mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping Bharti’s project and navigating the intense competition.

Inspired by the abundance of waste banana tree stems in her school, Bharti aimed to create something unique and impactful. Her Banana Paper project garnered praise not only from the competition judges but also from distinguished personalities like Dr. Kiran Bedi and Mr. Deepak Kedia, IPS.

Bharti’s innovation extends beyond recognition; she has secured a substantial cash prize of 1 lakh rupees. Furthermore, there are promising prospects of receiving investment from BML Munjal University, showcasing the potential for future collaborations.

The diverse applications of Banana Paper include certificates, disposable paper bags, art and craft supplies, packaging material, and tissues. Bharti’s success is not just a personal triumph but a testament to the power of creativity and sustainable solutions emerging from the next generation of leaders.
