Bihar governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that private schools in India play a significant role in education and the high standard education offered by such schools cannot be ignored. He stressed the need for government schools to establish a link with private institutions so that they can benefit from their best practices.

Inaugurating a training programme for nursery school teachers in Patna, the governor said, teaching is the noblest of all professions.

“Educating young children is not an ordinary job…Teachers create new personalities… This is not an easy job…. I believe it is the noblest of all professions…”, he said addressing a gathering of school teachers from various parts of Bihar.

A change is important for further development of society but nothing can change without proper education. “Education is the only potential game changer that can change our lives,” he said.

He was inaugurating a short-term certification programme, the “first of its kind” which is being conducted under the guidance of Management and Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), an authorised body under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, in collaboration with Nalanda Learning, an organisation working in the field of early child care education sector and Private Schools and Children’s Welfare Association (PSACWA) and organisation of private school owners.

An MoU has been signed between MSDE and PSACWA for imparting the training.

The course has been designed to empower preschool teachers with the skills as recommended in the provisions of NEP 2020.

Governor Khan appreciated the move of private school owners to empower teachers and he said that he was happy that Bihar is the first state to start the training programme. He hoped that the initiative will be taken forward as a National Teachers Samman.

Shamael Ahmed, PSACWA national president said, “This is not an ordinary MoU. Through this initiative we will not only empower private school teachers with the required skill, but we also aim to make private schools more self- reliant and ensure that we can create a pool of efficient teachers through this training.”
