BSF Senior Secondary School, Jammu was founded in 1972 with 49 students and 7 teachers. It is a day cum boarding school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school follows the motto “From darkness to light”.
BSF Senior Secondary School is situated in the open Battle field of Jammu and Kashmir. It caters to the academic requirement of the wards of BSF personnel of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and some students from the different BNs located in other eastern and western frontiers. There are 1832 students in secondary section and 1052 students in primary section, the largest number among all other BSF Schools.
The school hostswell furnished classrooms, well resourced library with a rich collection of 4500 books in different disciplines, six well equipped laboratories for Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Social Science and Computer. There is also a spacious dance and music hall equipped with all the required instruments.
Medical needs of students and staff are catered to by the BSF Hospital located in the vicinity of the school.
BSF School, Jammu is an English medium co-educational school affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi. It offers classes from UKG to class XII and follows the KendriyaVidyalaya pattern of education with syllabus and books prescribed by CBSE and NCERT.

The last date for receipt of applications for registration is March 30. Admission from UKG to Class IX is based on performance in the admission test. However, admissiontest is waived for students of BSF School.
Admission rules for students under different categories are as mentioned below:
1. At class VI, BSF wards are admitted as boarders through an entrance test conducted by FHQ BSF New Delhi. Admission in other classes as boarder is also done on full payment basis.
2. Priority shall be given to BSF wards. Admission of non-BSF students depends on vacancies.
3. No admission is done in class X and XII. However, transfer cases from one BSF School to another shall be considered.
Admission in class XI for BSF & Non BSF wards are based on the criteria fixed by FHQ New Delhi. Science, Commerce and Humanities streams are offered at the senior secondary level.
