What is Performing Arts?
Performing arts refer to creative activities aimed towards an audience such as music, dance and drama. Performing arts, an expression of the artists’ emotions and feelings, include numerous cultural expressions reflecting human creativity and heritage performed in front of a live audience. Performances may be organized in purpose-built buildings such as operas and theatres or in open-air venues such as street-performances and circuses. Performing arts are a diverse artistic form ranging from vocal and instrumental music, dance and theatre to pantomimes, sung verses etc.
Job Description
- Responsibilities of a performing artist include engaging in public performances through live or pre-recorded shows, presentations and exhibitions
- Interpret music/dance and convey emotion to tell a story using vocals, instruments and body movements
- Read scripts and memorize lines, musical notes and dance choreographies
- Attend rehearsals with other performing members and interpret criticism from the director
