The Christian Medical College (CMC) at Ludhiana is an educational and research institution promoted and managed by the minority Christian community. Founded by Dame Edith Mary Brown, CMC Ludhiana was the first medical school for women in Asia. It obtained government recognition in 1915 and is accredited by the Medical Council of India (MCI). In 1953, The School of Medicine for Christian Women was upgraded to Christian Medical College which admitted both men and women students. The college was affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh. Since July 1999 the college is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.
The CMC Ludhiana campus hosts spacious classrooms and lecture halls, well equipped labs, a library established in 1956 featuring books and journals of basic and clinical science and related subjects of medical and dental practice besides a huge collection of nursing books.

A candidate for admission to MBBS must have obtained not less than 50 percent marks in English and 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination (as per MCI Regulations 1997). All candidates applying in NRI category must also ensure that they have scored 50 percent marks in English and 50 percent marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the class equivalent to 10+2 of the Indian Boards. Admission to MBBS and BPT in NRI category are on the basis of merit obtained in the Admission Written Test (UG – AWT NRI - 2013) conducted by Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society. All the admissions are made with the approval of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Punjab; Medical Council of India (as may be applicable) and selection guidelines of the Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. For candidates applying from boards outside India, the mark sheets need to be forwarded to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences for verification and subsequent issuance of an eligibility certificate.
