The results of 2025 ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations were announced on Wednesday and Joseph Emmanuel chief executive and secretary of Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) said overall performance of schools is good throughout the country this year which shows that the CISCE affiliated schools were well receptive to the changes like the 25 percent competency-based questions introduced by the CISCE this year.
This year the all-India and abroad pass percentage in ICSE is 99.09 percent which is marginally higher than last year and in ISC the success rate is 99.02, slightly lower than 2024, Emmanuel said.
In ISC, three students including two in Mumbai and one in Kolkata’s Future Foundation School scored 100 marks in four subjects.
“The pass percentage of both Class X and XII exams had been around 98 and 99 percent for the past many years and students have performed well even this time… This is because CISCE schools maintain good standards,” Emmanuel told EducationWorld after announcing the results.
This year the CISCE had introduced 25 percent competency-based questions in Class X and XII exams. Asked whether the introduction of competency-based questions had any impact on students’ overall performance, the CISCE chief said: “ Despite introducing 25 percent competency-based questions, the pass percentage remained almost the same. When the exams were held, students were a little apprehensive about the new type of questions. But the results showed students were receptive to this change,” Emmanuel told EducationWorld.
This year, the CISCE has conducted a new study to find out the number of students scoring high. For example, the number of students scored 90 per cent and above and 60 percent and more.
In ICSE 22.22 percent students scored 90 percent and above and in ISC 19.56 percent scored between 90 and 100, Emmanuel said.
More than 80 percent students scored above 60 percent marks in both ICSE and ISC, he said.
The study showed that numbers of failures in Class X after the improvement are likely to be 195 In ICSE and in ISC 280.
“These are all because of the hard work done by the school. Schools in faraway districts too have performed well which shows that when a school chooses to seek affiliation with CISCE they chose it consciously with the determination that they would maintain high standard,” the CISCE head said.
