COVID19 Challenge: Royal Global School, Guwahati online learning success

April 16, 2020

Royal Global School“As COVID-19 continues to spread across the globe, we have started to make changes in the way we work to ensure learning does not suffer. During these testing times, we have successfully made a swift transition to virtual learning which has proved highly beneficial for our students including the slow learners. We have left no stone unturned to nurture children with the extra attention they need during this phase. Now is the time to reflect, strategise and prepare to forge ahead with renewed zeal.”

– Anubha Goyal, principal of the CBSE affiliated Royal Global School (RGS), Guwahati – top-ranked day-cum-boarding school in Assam.

Ranked #1 day-cum-boarding school in Assam and among the top 10 day schools countrywide for infrastructure provision in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20, Royal Global School (RGS), Guwahati is committed to “help students realise their full potential, encourage them to pursue new interests and equip them with the skills required for success in the competitive 21st century”. Having initially launched online classes for the class XII students in the last week of March in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the school eventually scaled up its virtual learning solution for all classes –  from preschool through senior secondary. The all-inclusive strategy formulated by the school to ensure continuity in teaching-learning amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown includes:

Faculty Training: The teachers were first oriented and trained in delivering virtual classes through several digital and e-learning tools including Diksha, E Pathsala and Swayam platforms provided by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). To prepare for a full-fledged online teaching-learning process as opposed to a blended one, teachers worked during  the weekends altering lesson plans and tweaking assignments.

Student Orientation: Students were provided guidance on how to log into the online classes and parental support and engagement were encouraged for junior classes.

Offline Learning: RGS students not only attend live virtual classes but also receive relevant educational resources, assignments, video links through the e-learning platform to help reinforce classroom learning and keep them engaged at home. The teachers are in constant touch with students and available to address all their curriculum related queries.

Co-curricular Education: RGS’ online learning curriculum lays equal emphasis on co-curricular education with sessions for music, yoga, aerobics, and games also being conducted virtually.
