Founded on November 1, 1991, Developmental Activities in Rehabilitative Education Academy (Dare), Srishti Welfare Centre is a special need school in Munnar serving as a centre for rehabilitating mentally and physically challenged children.
Currently, the school accommodates 51 children between three and 18 years of age with various disabilities.
Dare Academy hosts spacious and well ventilated learning rooms and play areas and a nurturing environment for mentally and physically challenged children.
The children are grouped into the following categories:
Play care I & II (for severely challenged children training, is provided in activities of daily living, self-help skills, socialisation skills, communication skills, etc.)
Hearing Impaired I & II
Reception I & II (for mentally challenged, slow learners)
Pre-Vocational Unit (for children above 16 years life skills such as home management skills, stitching, gardening, training in arts and crafts, candle making etc. are taught)
The curriculum is customised according to the needs and ability of each child. Emphasis is placed on their overall development in order to enable them to be productive, independent and useful members of society.
