DAV Boys Sr. Sec. School, Mogappair, Chennai is an all boys day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Started in 1989, the school is a part of DAV Group of Schools, Chennai and is managed by the Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society, Chennai. The school offers education from kindergarten through class XII.
The campus facilities include 40 spacious class rooms, AV room, a well stocked library with a wide range of books for all classes of readers along with a reading room, an air-conditioned computer lab, well equipped labs for math, physics, chemistry and biology. The campus also houses a large hall for yoga classes, an auditorium-cum-prayer hall, administrative offices, music room and activity spheres.
The sports infrastructure includes playfields for volleyball, basketball, badminton, kho-kho and throw ball and facilities for shuttle badminton (outdoor) and table tennis (indoor). The Nursery section houses a sandpit and well furnished playground.
The school follows CBSE curriculum and the academic session, which runs from April to March, comprises two terms. The school follows Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern of assessment from class I to X.
In the nursery classes, Playway method is adopted and children learn English, number work, environment science and general knowledge. Classes I to V have English, Hindi/Tamil, mathematics, science and social science, co-curricular activities include drawing, painting and physical education.
From classes VI to VIII, besides non-language subjects, the students are offered the three language scheme: English and Tamil/Hindi/Sanskrit at higher level and Tamil/Hindi/Sanskrit at the lower level. The additional subjects offered are fine arts, crafts, music, moral education, yoga and physical education. In classes IX and X, the subjects imparted are English, Hindi/Tamil/Sanskrit, math, science, social science, work experience, art education, physical and health education.
Classes XI and XII have two streams:-
Science: English, math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, general studies, work experience, physical and health education.
Commerce: English (Core), math, marketing, accountancy, business studies, economics, general studies, work experience, physical and health education.
