The BJP has accused the AAP government of jeopardizing the safety of children in its schools, highlighting the recent tragedy of a Class 12 girl who allegedly jumped from her school building’s third floor on August 29. The girl, a student at SBBM Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the Civil Lines area, passed away during hospital treatment.
Delhi BJP Secretary Bansuri Swaraj asserted that the Kejriwal government was attempting to conceal the incident, just as it did with a purported sexual assault case involving two students in a Rohini government school. Swaraj claimed that the AAP government was downplaying the death of the girl student, whose school is located barely 500 meters from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
Swaraj also mentioned the incident in which 70 students fell ill after consuming a midday meal in Dabri. She called upon the AAP government to provide an explanation for these events in schools under its administration, despite its claims of revolutionizing the education system.
These incidents, Swaraj argued, demonstrate the AAP government’s insensitivity to students and the absence of appropriate counseling and teacher-student communication mechanisms. She demanded the resignation of Education Minister Atishi, holding her accountable for these issues, and questioned the effectiveness of the happiness curriculum.
The press conference also included Delhi BJP’s Head of Media Relations, Vikram Mittal.
