Overview

The Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad, Vasundhara (DPSGV), is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

To fulfill its institutional objective of creating ‘a happy school with a blend of values, tradition, technology and a quest for quality and excellence,’ the school provides a career cell, activity rooms for yoga, photography, theatre and sculpture, and excellent sports infrastructure.

The school boasts 3,000 students instructed by 160 teachers on its muster rolls. Promoted by Padmashri Satish Kaura, DPSGV is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution and offers teacher student ratio of 1:35.

Campus

The school campus is Wi-Fi enabled and the classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and internet access. The school has a well-stocked library with provision for an e-library.

The physics, chemistry, biology and biotechnology labs are well-equipped.

There is a resource room for math and social studies, and a career resource cell. Three resource labs for computer learning, computer networked work rooms, networked class rooms with LCDs and LCD labs facilitate the learning process.

Activity rooms for yoga, music, dance, photography, theatre and sculpture, are provided on campus as is an infirmary with a trained nurse, first aid facility and a fulltime doctor.

The school’s sports infrastructure includes three practice pitches and a turf cricket pitch. The school also has a lawn tennis court, a multi-purpose field, splash pool and indoor games hall.

Academics

The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school has undertaken curriculum interventions such as designing books according to the latest pedagogical practices, ongoing faculty development programs to enhance the attitude, approach, concepts and skills of teacher-facilitators, and modifying strategies in the class room to accommodate different learning styles of students. Effective integration of technology through computers and LCD TV/Interactive white boards in classrooms make learning more meaningful.

The school’s curriculum aims ‘to be value-based, enjoyable, interactive and supports co-operative learning.’ In the junior classes, the school focuses on literacy and numeracy along with a number of co-curricular activities and inquiry-based projects. Human rights is an integral feature and intra-competition is encouraged over inter-competition.

From classes nursery to V, the school follows an informal assessment system with reduced emphasis on rote learning.

For classes VI to X the school follows continuous and comprehensive evaluation. For classes XI and XII, students are given class tests, unit tests, half yearly and annual exams and two practice board exams. Due weightage is given to periodical assessments.

Students are encouraged to participate in competitions like International Assessment of University of NSW, and Olympiads in math, science, cyber, informatics and biotechnology.

Extracurricular

The school lays emphasis on physical fitness, and games and sports are an integral part of the school day. Students get one hour of sports every morning. There are professional coaches who give specialized training on regular basis in various games and sports. The school also provides evening sports facilities and runs a cricket and tennis academy under the guidance and patronage of professionals.

Admission

Admission forms are available at the school office on all working days between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm, or can be downloaded from the website. The age criterion for nursery is 3-4 years as on April 1. Registration for nursery is open from the month of August.

There’s an admission test for classes I-V in English, math and Hindi and for classes VI to IX in English, math and science. Both parents must be present for any interaction with the principal along with their child.

DPSGV is has received the International School Award of the British Council, and is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution.
