DPS Harni: Achieving excellence on numerous fronts

With schools reopening earlier this year after the longest education lockdown of 82 weeks, the students of Delhi Public School Harni (Vadodara) have been enthusiastically participating in inter-school, state and national sports and co-curricular events. They have also won several laurels for the school in the last few months. Among them:

Model Youth Parliament

As a unique initiative, the Government of Gujarat hosted a special Assembly session on July 2, 2022 wherein 182 students from across the state had the opportunity to become MLAs for a day. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel, speaker Nimabahen Acharya, and opposition MLAs graced the event as spectators. The session was inaugurated by chief minister Bhupendra Patel, speaker Nimaben Acharya and law minister Rajendra Trivedi.

The students were shortlisted from various schools in all constituencies of the state through a rigorous selection process. Three students of Delhi Public School Harni were selected for the special Assembly session while two were assigned important portfolios of cabinet ministers. They were Shrushti Nihalani class XI D (Energy and Petroleum Minister), Yash Patel class XI C (Sports Minister) and Saivi Patel class XI D (Member of Legislative Assembly). 

The students were awarded an appreciation certificate and a prize.

Republic Day Camp

Republic Day Camp is the most coveted camp for NCC cadets. The cadets are selected through a rigorous selection process. The cadets attending the camp participate in a number of activities such as cultural, national integration awareness programme and institutional training competitions.

Palak Sarnot, Shreya Mahajan, Vaishnavi Sharma, Yash Shandel , Kapil Joshi and Rishi Bhindale  from DPS Harni were selected to undergo this training from July 25 to August 3, 2022 at Rajpipla (Gujarat) as a part of the Pre RDC-1. 

Participation in Khel Mahakumbh

DPS Harni students won Gold and Bronze medals in Vadodara city Khel Mahakumbh Karate Championship. Gaureesh Sharma clinched Gold and also participated in Khel Mahakumbh State Championship hosted in Nadiad. Aastha Mugale and Kanish Singh bagged Bronze.

Four students of DPS Harni — Vivaan Rai, Mridung Ghai, Mohammad Hamza and Twisha Thakkar — played in the State Level Khel Mahakumbh Football Championship.

The six-member Under 14 Kabaddi Girls team of DPS Harni won Bronze and prize money of Rs 30,000 in the State Level Khelmahakubh Championship. The team is the winner for the third consecutive year. Previous two years they won Gold in state championship.

Two girls Pankti Khandelwal and Shreya Choudhary were part of COE selection camp.

Under 17 girls won silver medal and prize money of 24,000 in  District Level Khelmahakumbh Kabaddi Championship. Four girls, Vaishnavi Khandagre, Ritika Patel, Jeel Pandya and Abhisha Singh played the state level.

The DPS Harni Under 17 Kabaddi girls team won the 2022 Sansad Championship. The team members were:

Dishna Bhatt won Silver while Ashka N won Bronze in the district level Khel Mahakumbh Championship.

Excellent performance in CBSE board exams

Despite the learning loss and inability of teachers to provide individual attention to them during the two years of online schooling, DPS Harni students secured exemplary results in the class X and XII CBSE board exam 2022.

The 123 students who wrote the class XII board exam averaged 83.64% (Science stream – 82.45%, Commerce – 85.33% and Humanities – 87.35%) 

In class XII Science stream, Arnab Ray was the school topper with an aggregate score of 96.6% while Het Choksi was the top scorer in Commerce with 96.2% and SS Swarchita topped Humanities stream with 95.8%. Twelve students scored a perfect hundred in various subjects.

Of the 225 students who wrote the class X board exam, 16 students scored 95% and above while 10 students scored a perfect 100 in various subjects. Arya Banerjee, the school topper scored 98.4%.

Social Science Week

DPS Harni is committed to improve student learning outcomes through innovative teaching-learning practices. Moreover, the school celebrates subject weeks as a pedagogical tool to enhance student learning outcomes and make learning enjoyable. The social sciences are key to understanding humanity, society and the institutions which govern our daily lives.

This year, the Social Science Week was observed from July 11-15, 2022.

As part of Social Science Week celebrations,  several activities were organised for classes 3 to 12. The activities included making a scroll — Constitution for class 3, world heritage sites forl classes 4 & 5, local self government for class 6, election campaign in Chhattisgarh for class 7, showcasing tribal culture of Chhattisgarh (class 8), mock Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh (class 9), Ecotourism in Chhattisgarh (class 10). Classes 11 & 12 had Young Entrepreneurs Pitch Challenge.
