Devendra Khare, Amity alumnus conferred Lalit Kala Akademi Award

Devendra Kumar Khare, an alumnus of Amity School of Fine Arts, from BFA-Painting of the Batch 2012-2016 was awarded the National Lalit Kala Akademi Award in the 61st National Exhibition of Art for one of his Artworks under the category of Printmaking. The award is curated by the National Lalit Kala Akademi of Art, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India conferred the award and a scholarship of Rs. 2,00,000 to Khare at the award ceremony organized at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi yesterday.

“This is my autobiographical work in etching medium depicting my memory of teenage experience dealing with first encounter of timeless truth of death and gender that are shown in allegorical manner,” shared the artist about his artwork ‘Perpetual Melancholy’. Khare studied BFA-Painting from Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University, Noida.

Sharing his experience about studying at Amity, Khare recalled the focus, dedication and exposure provided to him by the faculty and the institution while pursuing his BFA. “Pursuing BFA from Amity University was a good step for my career as a lot of initiatives are taken to inculcate art in the students at the campus,” said Khare who is now living and working as an active artist/print maker in Vadodara, Gujarat.
