The Doon School, Dehradun (TDS) and King™s College, London invite applications for the first ˜Winter at Doon with King™s College London™ study programme. According to a Doon School media release, the two-week intensive residential programme for class XI and XII students from  India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, will be held at The Doon School from December 7-19. œSuccessful applicants will have the chance to develop and hone the much needed critical thinking, reading and writing skills they will need for a successful class XII examination regardless of curriculum choice. The applicants™ CVs will be substantially enhanced as they will be able to demonstrate their genuine interest in the subject of their choice. Such aptitude and skills will also be required to study successfully at first-class universities worldwide, says Dr. Peter McLaughlin, headmaster, TDS. The two-week residential study programme invites applications for study in one of the following courses: Into Space: exploring space through science; English literature; Geographical Explorations ” global cities, global economy; and History with international relations ” evolution of the international system. Wipro launches Earthian IV The Bangalore-based infotech software development major Wipro Ltd launched Earthian 2014, a global initiative for sustainability education programmes in schools and colleges in Bangalore on August 19. Now in its fourth year, the programme connects different disciplines in education to ecological and social sustainability. This year the umbrella theme is ˜Water in Our School™. The programme is divided into three activities aimed at building skills, attitudes and values to shape a sustainable future. Winning schools and colleges will be invited to partner with a three-year Continuous Engagement Program (CEP). The objective of CEP is to engage with Earthian awardees over a long period, and help integrate sustainability issues into curriculums in a holistic way with the cooperation of institutions, teachers and students. œEvery year, Earthian brings more institutions, teachers and students onto a platform which fosters rich understanding of how sustainability can be a powerful influence on our thoughts and actions in the future.
