Art crosses all cultures and boundaries, serving as a universal language that inspires, connects, and fosters creativity in every individual. Recognising this fact, DPS Gurgaon & RWYC (Reconnecting with Your Culture), have successfully created a bridge that connects children from different parts of the world, to become cultural ambassadors of their respective countries.
RWYC pursues ‘Quality Education’ objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda, encouraging collaboration between schools and allowing students to gain quality and inclusive education. It is promoted by the EdA Esempi di Architettura (Italia), UNESCO, University and Heritage. In a pioneering collaboration with RWYC, the exhibition introduced an innovative educational methodology designed to enhance Quality Education (SDG 4), promote cultural heritage, sustainability, and drive research for community development.
CONNECTIONS-The International Annual Art Exhibition inaugurated at Delhi Public School, Sec-45, Gurgaon on 06th February 2025, was conceptualised by Ms. Aditi Misra, President, RWYC Asia India Chapter, and Director Principal, DPS Gurgaon. She is a firm believer of integrating fine arts into education, fostering creativity and unlocking students’ true potential.
Artwork of more than 200 students from seven participating countries-Armenia, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Morocco, Poland and India portrayed human emotions and experiences across cultures to reveal deep-rooted similarities within diverse cultural traditions, global interconnectedness and unity.
Ms. Julie Summerfield, Head Teacher, Horndean Technology College, United Kingdom (UK) and Ms. Aditi Misra inaugurated the exhibition. Educators from UK, who were in India to explore its education system, and other art enthusiasts who visited the school, immensely appreciated the exhibition.
The exhibition showcased a varied array of artistic mediums, including paintings, mixed media collages, digital art, clay sculptures, and pottery. It was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, global citizenship, and cultural exchange, thoughtfully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
An innovative art installation, Connections… Community & Resilience symbolised the enduring bonds between individuals who, despite challenges, remain connected through shared experiences, support, and strength. It also reflected the continuous pursuit of transformation and building new connections.
The invaluable support of the collaborators in sharing their students’ exceptional artwork has been instrumental in making the art exhibition a resounding success. Their contributions have not only displayed remarkable talent but also reinforced the power of art in bringing communities together.
