DPS Mathura Road celebrates its 75th Foundation Day

Delhi Public School, Mathura Road celebrated its 75th Foundation Day at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. More than 1000 students from grades VI-XII participated in the celebrations which left an audience of about 2,200 people completely enthralled. The event united the entire DPS community — members of the Delhi Public School Society, the managing committee, principals of various Delhi Public Schools, alumni, parents, faculty, and students.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, accompanied by a melodious welcome song, ‘Sur Swagatam’, performed by the school choir. A round of felicitations was followed by principal Dr. Ram Singh’s address in which he traced the remarkable journey of DPS Mathura Road while highlighting the school’s holistic approach to education.

Vrinda Sarup, chairperson, DPS Mathura Road commended the school’s outstanding record of achievements, both in academics and co-curricular pursuits. In his address, Padma Bhushan V.K. Shunglu, vice chairman, the DPS Society shared a futuristic vision for the school, while chief guest Padma Bhushan B.K. Chaturvedi, chairman, DPS Society, expressed his delight at the remarkable teamwork that was evident in the splendid unfolding of the 75th Annual Day celebrations.

Other eminent guests included Justice Vipin Sanghi, former Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court and member of DPS Society; Sanjay Kumar, secretary, Ministry of Education; Justice Navin Chawla, High Court of Delhi; Dr Ashwani Kumar, former minister of law and MP Rajya Sabha; Padmashree Dr. Harsh Mahajan, along with Dikshu Kukreja, Architect, Urban Planner and Honorary Consul General, Republic of Albania.

A special film, ‘75 Years of DPS Mathura Road’, offered a poignant glimpse into the school’s past, spotlighting landmark achievements, moments of resilience, and the people who shaped its legacy. The tone for the evening’s central performance was set by the school’s orchestra which presented ‘Ram Sumiran’, a soulful, meditative musical piece.
The evening’s crown jewel was ‘Ramcharit — The Saga of Raghuvanshi Shri Ram’, a magnificent theatrical production performed by students of classes VI through XII. Through classical dance, vivid costumes, and soul-stirring music, the performance narrated the timeless journey of Lord Rama, seamlessly blending tradition with emotion. The production captivated the audience and earned a standing ovation.
