Promoted in 1988, Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute, Chennai imparts relevant training and education to the youth to help them become technically qualified, practically competent and skilled human resources. The university aims to equip the students with the latest knowledge and to promote inter-cultural exchanges by bringing together students from different parts of India.

Campus

The 300 acre wi-fi enabled university campus hosts well-lit and well ventilated classrooms, 64 well-equipped laboratories, electronic and computer laboratories, a well-stocked library featuring a vast collection of books and journals. The university also boasts a central library, departmental libraries as well as a digital library. The university provides many air-conditioned buses, ultra-deluxe buses, deluxe buses and mini buses for transportation.

General Information

Admission

Admission is open to students from across the world. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam. The university provides adequate representation to students from the underprivileged sections of society. Physically challenged students and students who excel in sports are also given preference. Candidates are selected based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination as well as the entrance examination conducted by the university. Eligibility for B.Tech Candidate should have passed HSC/ Equivalent (Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry/Biology) Eligibility for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Candidate should have scored 60 percent aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany/Zoology) and English for general category. Candidate should have scored 40 percent aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany/Zoology) and English for scheduled caste/tribes.
