PW invited parents from DAV Model School, Durgapur to share how they plan summer holidays with their children
“In the summer, we bond by travelling together. My son Reyansh (class LKG) is the most excited and looks forward to short journeys. Offbeat hilly areas are most-preferred where we can enjoy educational views of nature and connect with local culture. Time permitting, we also visit religious places to seek blessings of the Almighty. The idea is to return to school/ work spiritually enlightened and refreshed” — Sangita Saha, teacher, DAV. Model School.
“My fondest childhood memories are of travelling with my parents. Our children — Reyansh (class V) and Aarohi (class XI) — also love to travel to new places and spend time with family. Our summer vacation is usually a blend of sampling new cuisines around the city’s food hubs and traveling to hill stations. For us, family vacations are all about escaping from the mundane routine of life and rejuvenating” — Mousami Goswami, teacher, DAV Model School
“Work-life balance has assumed critical importance in today’s world, especially for parents balancing family responsibilities with career aspirations. So vacations are all about spending quality time with son Anshul Kumar (class XI). Listening to Bhagavad Gita shlokas in the morning, engaging in casual conversation after lunch or at tea-time, or luxuriating in the lap of nature, is what we do to add value, strengthen family bonds and have fun during the summer” — Rashmi Sinha, teacher, DAV Model School
“Vacationing close to nature is our family mantra every summer. Starting with morning walks together, our son Ahan (class IV) loves to watch birds and insects in their natural habitats, and never misses sunsets. Longer vacations aside, we love taking short weekend trips, interact with the local community, and enjoy the local cuisine” — Dr. Sarmistha Saha, Associate Professor, Michael Madhusudan Memorial College, Durgapur
