Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia

Overview

Established in 1989, the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, is the youngest of the departments of the Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university established by an Act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. It has grown rapidly in the past ten years, and is today regarded as a notable centre for legal learning. The Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU), offers Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in legal studies. Initially, JMIU offered a three-year LLB course with an annual intake of 45 students, which was supported by bare minimum infrastructure facilities and skeletal staff. Over the years, legal studies at JMIU became a full-fledged department. The Faculty of Law organizes Moot Courts within the classrooms, intra-class Moot Court Competitions and national Moot Court Competitions.

Campus

The institute is well equipped with modern facilities, including comfortable classrooms and round the clock access to the internet. A well stocked Central Library featuring a wide range of legal books and magazines is available for students.

Academics

A good mix of theory and practical activities is used to impart learning. Frequent moot courts in classrooms give students an opportunity to simulate real-life court room situations. Admission

Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination. Candidates seeking admission are required to submit the prescribed Application Form which may be obtained from the university on payment of the prescribed fees, or it may be downloaded from the website and submitted along with the fees as mentioned in the prospectus. Candidates are required to go through an entrance test which is followed by an interview. In some specific courses, a group discussion is also held.
