Overview

GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUA&T) is the first agricultural university of India. It was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru on November 17, 1960 as the “Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University” (UPAU). In 1972, the name was changed to “Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in memory of the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, statesman and Bharat Ratna recipient Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant. The university was declared as the best among all state universities in India, in 1997.

The University lies in the campus-town of Pantnagar in the district of Udham Singh Nagar in the state of Uttarakhand. The university is regarded as the harbinger of Green Revolution in India.

Campus

The University campus at Pantnagar is spread in an area of 12,661-acre making it the second largest university in the world. The university campus is located at a distance of 250 km from Delhi in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. Pantnagar is a purely residential university and comprises an independent township in itself. The ‘Concentric semicircles’ or the ‘rising sun’ plan of the campus-centre was a brainchild of Department of Architecture of Illinois University.

The central library of the university features a collection of 3.9 lakh documents in disciplines such as Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Home Science, Fisheries, Basic Sciences, Humanities, Technology and other allied subjects. The collection includes books, theses, periodicals, standards, reprints, maps, toposheets, globes, microfilms, microfiches, records, tapes & CD-ROMs.

Undergraduate Admission- B.Tech.

Selection Criteria: JEE Main score/rank.

Eligibility: 10+2 in science stream from a recognised board.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates must register for admission by filling up the online application form on the official GBPUAT website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
Candidates have to apply and appear for the JEE Main exams.
Candidates then have to register and appear for the university-conducted counselling session, where students will be selected on the basis of their JEE Main scores/ranks. Selected candidates may verify documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission.

Undergraduate Admission- B.Sc., B.V.Sc. And B.F.Sc.:

Selection Criteria: Entrance exam conducted by the university.

Eligibility: 10+2 in science stream from a recognised board.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates must register for admission by filling up the online application form on the official GBPUAT website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the university.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their entrance exam merit. Selected candidates may verify documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission.

Postgraduate Admission- M.Tech.

Selection Criteria: GATE scores / ICAR-conducted entrance.

Eligibility: B.E./B.Tech. degree in relevant discipline/specialisation from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates must register for admission by filling up the online application form on the official GBPUAT website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
Candidates have to apply and appear for the GATE exams. Other state candidates are selected on the basis of the entrance exam conducted by ICAR.
Candidates then have to register and appear for the university-conducted counselling session, where students will be selected on the basis of their GATE/ICAR entrance merit. Selected candidates may verify documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission.

Postgraduate Admission- M.Sc., M.V.Sc., M.F.Sc. and M.C.A.

Selection Criteria: Entrance exam conducted by university.

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline/specialisation from a recognised/AICTE approved university.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates must register for admission by filling up the online application form on the official GBPUAT website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the university. M.C.A students will have to write a separate entrance exam.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their entrance exam merit. Selected candidates may verify documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission.

Postgraduate Admission- M.B.A.

Selection Criteria: CAT/CMAT scores, group discussion and personal interview.

Eligibility: Degree in relevant discipline/specialisation from a recognised/AICTE approved university.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates must register for admission by filling up the online application form on the official GBPUAT website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
Candidates have to apply and appear for the CAT/CMAT exams. After receiving a valid score, candidates then have to appear for a group discussion and a personal interview.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their CAT/CMAT scores and performance in the group discussion and personal interview. Selected candidates may verify documents and pay the fees to confirm their admission.

Doctoral Admission- Ph.D.

Selection Criteria: Entrance exam conducted by university.

Eligibility: Degree in relevant discipline/specialisation from a recognised/AICTE approved university.

Accommodation

The university provides 23 hostels including 10 hostels for female students, one for married students with separate arrangements for postgraduate and undergraduate students.

There is a common room for the hostel residents with a colour T.V. equipped with cable facility, a music room, indoor games room and a library featuring selected books, magazines and newspapers etc.
