Overview

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. The institute promotes knowledge of the German language abroad, thereby fostering international cultural cooperation. They work in partnership with public and private cultural bodies, the German federal states and municipalities, and the corporate sector. The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore, founded in 1960, offers language courses, organises cultural events and has a library. The activities range from film screenings, exhibitions, theatre performances and concerts to workshops and conferences particularly on innovative topics such as video and media art.

Academics

Courses offered: Courses in German range from a longer, extensive course to a quicker, intensive course. Courses with special themes are also offered periodically for the exam preparation and young learner’s courses. Courses can be customized by request for companies, smaller groups or individuals. Classes are held for 45 minute duration with the number of classes a week differing in accordance to the course chosen by the student. Courses are usually held for 15 weeks. Programme: The institute offers the language course at 3 levels; A1 and A2: In this, most basic level, students will be able to have an elementary command over the language. B1 and B2: Independent language use is assured to all students. C1 and C2: This being the most advanced level, students will acquire autonomous language ability.
