The ability to work in teams is an important skill for success in school, college, workplace and life. Are you a good team player? Or are you better working on your own? Take this survey to find out!

  1. Do you go out of your way to understand and collaborate with your teammates?

A: Yes. I find out as much as I can about them, and their interests.

B: I try to occasionally make small chit-chat.

  1. Do you often get the feeling your workload is greater than of others?

A: No. It is important for us to get the work finished well.

B: Yeah, I am doing most of the donkey work!

  1. Do you believe your partners are less talented?

A: Everyone has their own strengths.

B: Yes, I often do!

  1. Do people like working with you?

A: Oh, yes! I am friendly to everyone as a rule.

B: Not really.

  1. Do you agree that in a team, there needs to be equal creative as well as labour input?

A: Yes. Everyone is creative in their own way. It is good to get everyone’s ideas.

B: I listen only to my creativity.

  1. Do you accept and adjust to change?

A: Yes, if it is necessary for the team to succeed.

B: I let my displeasure be known.

  1. Would you rather rely on your own strength than of your partners?

A: No. If they’re better at something, I’ll ask for their help.

B: I am self-sufficient.

  1. Are your personal goals more important than the entire team’s?

A: I have my own goals, but the team comes first.

B: Definitely!

For every A, you get 5 points. If your score is:
• 25-40 — You are an excellent team player. Everyone loves to work with you. But you might need a bit more ambition.
• 15-25 — You are cautious and know when to stop rooting for your team and start thinking of yourself.
• Below 15 — You may be well loved, but fewer people would like to work with you professionally.
