Greenwood High Leads Karnataka Regional Team To A Win At The CISCE National Chess Championship 2018

Our Chess Teacher, Mr. K. Somanath recently led the Karnataka Regional Chess Team to an impressive win in the CISCE National Chess Championship held on 15th and 16th September 2018 at Hotel Katriya, Hyderabad by St. Joseph’s School.

More than 320 children from different regions of the country took part in the Chess and Carrom events and competed for the winning titles, where the Karnataka Regional Chess Team ranked as below –

Winners in U-17 Girls Category

Runners-up in U-17 Boys Category

Runners-up in U-19 Girls Category

4th Place in Under-19 Boys Category

Adya Singh (Captain), Trisha Reddy, Anjali Parthasarathy, Yuktha Pereddy of Greenwood High International School were part of the Under-19 Girls Team, which got Runner-Up position.

Zain K Muhammad (Captain), Anay Sharma and Pranav Guntupalli of Greenwood High International School were part of the Under-19 Boys Team, which got 4th Place.

UNDER-17 GIRLS:

1ST PLACE:  KARNATAKA (24 points)

2ND PLACE: MAHARASHTRA (23.5 points)

3RD PLACE: BIHAR & JHARKHAND (19 points)

UNDER-17 BOYS:

1ST PLACE: MAHARASHTRA (24.5 points)

2ND PLACE: KARNATAKA (23.5 points)

3RD PLACE: BIHAR-JHARKHAND (19 Points)

UNDER-19 GIRLS:

1ST PLACE: TAMILNADU (22 Points)

2ND PLACE: KARNATAKA (19.5 points) 

3RD PLACE:  BIHAR-JHARKHAND (18 Points)

UNDER-19 Boys:

1ST PLACE: MAHARASHTRA (22.5 points)

2ND PLACE: TAMILNADU (20 points)

3RD PLACE: UTTAR PRADESH & UTTARAKHAND (20 Points)

4th Place: KARNATAKA (19.5 Points)

Overall Karnataka Region scored the highest point (86.5) in the 4 categories and secured 1st position.
