Hansraj Model School, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi was established in 1966. T.R. Gupta was the first principal of the school. The school’s philosophy is based on the ideals of the DAV (Dayanand-Anglo Vedic) movement of Maharishi Swami Dayanand. The mission of the school is “to enrich young minds with Vedic ideals and culture”. Hansraj is an English medium coeducational school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The incumbent principal of the school, Dr. Rita Rajen Kumar, was recently conferred with the Best Principal Award for the popularization of science, math and IT. The school boasts an enrolment of 5,000 students and is managed by the DAV Group which includes 700 schools countrywide.
The kindergarten section is housed on a separate 1.5-acre campus, while the primary and secondary sections are sited within three and four stories buildings. The school library displays a wide variety of books, journals, magazines and newspapers. Academic facilities include science, math, and computer and language labs. The auditorium-cum-assembly hall also serves as a venue for indoor games and houses a gymnasium. For admission into preschool, the applicant must be 3 years old. Annually the school admits 500 children in preschool. Fees: Annual fee of the school is Rs.10, 000-12,000.
