IHMCTAN, Hyderabad was set up in 1972 as Food Craft Institute under the State Technical Education Department, sponsored by the Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh. In 1984 the institute was upgraded to the Institute of Hotel Management and in 1986 it obtained affiliation from the National Council of Hotel Management, Catering Technology, New Delhi, an autonomous body set up by the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India. IHMCTAN undertakes consultancy projects for industrial canteens, railways, catering, and food industries. It develops software for various hotel related applications and student learning activities. It also undertakes outdoor catering for government functions and deputes the students to luxury hotels on request for special arrangements. The institute has a dedicated placement cell that facilitates final placement in reputed firms in the industry.
IHMCTAN hosts modern and integrally equipped kitchens, well equipped computer labs with internet facility, indoor games, and gym facilities. The institute provides hostels for both boys and girls. All hostels provide North Indian and South Indian food.
Courses Offered: 1. M.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (2 years) 2. B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (3 years) 3. Postgraduate diploma in Accommodation Operations & Management (1.5 years) 4. Craftsmanship course in Food Production (1.5 years) 5. Craftsmanship course in Food and Beverage Service (6 months) And various courses offered under MoTs Scheme of CBSP are fully funded by Government of India.
