Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), Kolkata is a leading hotel management institute established with the vision to impart training to students who are keen to make their career in the hotel industry. It is an autonomous institution established under the aegis of Department of Tourism, Government of India as a joint venture of the Government of India and Government of West Bengal.
IHM Kolkata hosts an excellent resource library featuring a collection of over 5000 specialized books including reference, magazines, CDs, and rare videos on Hotel Management discipline. The institute hosts a well equipped state-of-the-art computer lab which can accommodate 35 students at a time. LCD projectors, multimedia aids, overhead projectors, and CDs on each subject area are some of the audio-visual aids used extensively by the faculty to ensure a more effective learning environment. The students are also imparted bartending skills. This department also deals with the intricate techniques of Food & Beverage Control and Management so that the students develop the capacity to successfully operate and manage a food outlet and make profits from the same. Cost control, budgetary implications, inventory management, and purchase systems are integral components of the syllabi. The department manages a bar-cum-restaurant covering an area of more than 2000 sq. ft. and well-equipped with a large inventory of various tools and equipment.

Eligibility for admission: Minimum Qualification: Minimum qualification for admission is 10+2 pass or its equivalent. The candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination. Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination can also apply for being considered on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted to the concerned Institute by a stipulated time. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to the institute, his/her admission will be cancelled. Admission will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents to be produced by the candidate. Decision of National Council regarding eligibility shall be final. Physical Fitness: All qualified candidates are required to submit a certificate of physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format given in the information brochure. Admission at the allotted institute will be granted only if the candidate is declared physically fit for pursuing the course of study. Fees: The annual fee including Admission Fee and Caution Money (first year), IGNOU Fee and Examination Fee ranges from Rs. 66,250 to Rs.74,800.
