Indian B-schools star in global Positive Impact Ratings

June 8, 2022

All top business schools that have been ranked high in the Positive Impact Rating are from India. Among them are The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, (IIMB) SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Xavier School of Management (XLRI) and Woxsen Business School who have been listed as the best pioneering schools in the world.

The Positive Impact Rating (PIR) is conducted by students worldwide. The PIR 2022 edition features 45 schools ranked at levels 3 or higher. Level 5 schools are ranked high, regarded as pioneering schools in which the four B-Schools in India are placed.

In the third edition, the rankings were decided on by students from 21 countries and across five continents. Students’ feedback on the functioning of the schools, urging for a more sustainable approach as well as putting importance in teaching responsibility were among the factors considered.

At Level 4 (transforming schools), the PIR features 29 schools, up from 24 schools last year. Level 3 (progressing schools) includes 12 schools (18 last year). In the spirit of reinforcing good practice, the rating does not feature schools rated below Level 3.

Responding to this, IIMB Director Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan said, “It is inspiring. It is good to see that IIMB and three other business schools from India have achieved the highest level in this edition of the rating as ‘pioneering schools’ globally.”

PIR was initiated by a group of business school experts who were concerned about the delivery of education. It is set up to be led by international student organizations and looks at capturing students’ voices.
