India’s Best Boys Day Schools 2016

For the fourth consecutive year, the sample respondents polled by C fore in western India have voted Campion School, Mumbai India’s #1 boys day school followed by St. Xavier’s Collegiate, Kolkata and St. Johns High, Chandigarh Dislodging the Campion School, Mumbai (estb.1943) from its premier position in the EW national boys day schools league table is likely to take some doing. For the fourth consecutive year, sample respondents polled by Delhi-based market research company C fore in western India have voted Campion School, Mumbai led by its quiet and unassuming principal Paul Machado, India’s #1 boys day school. Top-rated on eight of the 14 parameters of education excellence in this category (including leadership), this CISCE (Delhi)-affiliated all-boys day school has 770 students mentored by 42 teachers on its muster rolls. “The credit for Campion’s consistently high ranking should accrue to the management, teachers, students and parents of the school. Our top rating for academic reputation, co-curricular education, life skills and sports education indicate that our focus on all-round growth of students and developing them into 21st-century citizens is being appreciated by the discerning public. In Campion we are constantly upgrading curriculums and pedagogies to keep abreast with the emerging challenges of the 21st century”, says Machado, a political science and education alum of Bangalore University who acquired valuable teaching and admin experience at St. Mary’s, Mt. Abu and St. Mary’s, Mazgaon (Mumbai) – all-boys schools – before taking charge as principal of Campion in 2003. The seating arrangement at the high end of the boys day schools Top 10 table is the same as in 2015, with St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata ranked #2 nationally and #1 in West Bengal, followed by St. Johns High, Chandigarh at #3 and La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata at #4. However, this year the #5 position at top table has been awarded to the vintage Bishops School, Pune (estb.1864), ranked a notch below in 2015. Fr. B. Thomas, SJ, principal and secretary of St. Xaviers Collegiate (estb.1860), is “happy” that this 156-year-old school which has 2,350 students and 94 teachers on its musters, has been second ranked for three years in a row. “We are humbled by the recognition and thank EducationWorld and your survey respondents for this honour. Further down the Top 10 table, St. Marys School ICSE, Mazgaon, Mumbai is ranked #6 (against #8 in 2015), DAV Boys Senior Secondary School, Gopalapuram (Chennai) #7 (5), Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai #8 (10) and St. Columbas School, Delhi also ranked #8 (9), Bishop Cotton Boys, Bangalore #9 (11), Don Bosco, Park Circus, Kolkata #9 (12) and La Martiniere Boys College, Lucknow #10 (13). “This years higher #8 national ranking and #3 in
