Overview

The International Institute of Information Technology, popularly known as IIIT-B, was conferred as a deemed university on February 2005. It was established in 1999 with a vision to contribute to the IT world by focusing on education and research, entrepreneurship and innovation. It is registered as not-for-profit society funded jointly by the Government of Karnataka and the IT industry. With its unique model of education, research, and industry interaction, IIIT-B has grown in stature to become an institution of considerable repute in academic as well as corporate circles.

Campus

The campus features well-maintained lush green lawns, musical fountains, and a small pond, creating an ideal learning environment to stimulate intellectual and personal growth. The campus infrastructure showcases the most advanced elements of contemporary academic tools. It is spread across 80,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, uninterrupted power supply, and well crafted interiors. The institute offers a world-class environment for students and faculty. The classrooms are fabricated with high speed data networks and large projection systems for audio and video. The classrooms are spacious allowing seats up to 150 students. It includes electronic smart board, location sensing, microphones and multiple LCD projects enabling an enriched learning experience.

Academics

IIIT-B is a deemed university and confers the degree of Master of Technology to its students. The institute is a graduate school, and offers no undergraduate degree programs. The graduate study programs offered lead to the Integrated Master of Technology (Integrated M.Tech.), Master of Technology (M.Tech.), the Master of Science (M.S.) by Research, and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in information technology. General Information

Admission

The qualification for the integrated M.Tech Programme at IIITB is a first-class in 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with mathematics as one of the subjects. The qualification required for admission to any of the post-graduate programmes at IIITB is a first-class four-year bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. B.E., B.Tech. or equivalent). First class degree holders in 3-year undergraduate programmes followed by M.Sc with first class in any of the physical sciences, or an MCA degree with first class can also apply. The minimum qualification for admission is a first-class four-year bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. B.E., B.Tech. or equivalent). M.Sc./MCA degree holders can also apply. Final-year students expecting to graduate by August 2012 may also apply. For Ph.D. applications from candidates holding Master's degrees in a technical discipline (i.e. an M.E., M.Tech, or equivalent) will be preferred. We are open to receiving applications to the research programmes (particularly for the Ph.D.) from outstanding international students. Accommodation

Hostel facilities are available in terms of separate girls and boys hostels. Students are given privilege to stay in individual rooms with wire and wireless connectivity for 24 hours a day. The hostel accommodates 180 male students (single occupancy with shared bath) and 80 female students (single occupancy with shared bath); in addition there is accommodation for 48 students (double occupancy with attached bath) and four fully furnished suites for short term visiting faculty.
