Overview

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Belgaum is a center of excellence in medical education, research and healthcare services at the national and international level. The institution aims to be among the top ten medical colleges in India in the spheres of medical education, research and health care services. The extreme shortage of medical facilities in the region, prompted the KLE Society to establish Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Belgaum in 1963. The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India and hosts a 1000 bedded free charitable block as well as the 1000 bedded Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre on its campus. As a constituent college of KLE University, the college is geared to reach a new level of performance and set global standards. JNMC has been consistently ranked amongst the top fifty medical colleges in India by education surveys conducted annually.

Campus

The 100 acre college campus hosts excellent infrastructure with 40 state-of-art labs, modern equipments, spacious classrooms with seating capacity of 50-60 each, 200 computers and a library featuring a collection of 23578 books and 1104 journals. The campus also houses a nationalized banking facility; Syndicate Bank along with the post office, cater to the needs of the student community. The recently renovated café caters to the students’ needs with a range of hot meals. The book shop located within the JNMC campus caters to the text material/books requirement of the students of all courses.
