JBCN Education, in collaboration with Monash University, Australia, hosted the inaugural edition of the Monash Innovation Guarantee (MIG) India Programme from June 9-11. Hosted for the first time in India, the immersive three-day programme brought together 53 learners across five campuses of JBCN International School to tackle real-world challenges through hands-on innovation, design thinking, and purpose-driven collaboration.
Designed exclusively for high school learners between grades VIII to XI, MIG India offered a structured yet dynamic platform to engage with industry experts, apply entrepreneurial mindsets, and build future-ready skills. Over the course of the programme, learners explored industry challenges posed by leading organisations, including Canva Education, Sequretek, and Dental HQ. The learners also received a certification at the end of three immersive days.
With guidance from global faculty like Assoc. Prof. Susie Ho and Dr. Bodean Hedwards of Monash University, Australia, along with Indian industry leaders like M.S. Unnikrishnan (IITB-Monash Research Academy), Pankit Desai (Sequretek), Tanya K (Austrade), Varya Srivastava (Works on AI solutions at the office of Ananya Birla), Gareema Prasaad (Dental HQ), and Sagari Chatterjee (Canva Education), learners deep-dived into the process of mapping, prototyping, and pitching impactful solutions.
“We are proud to partner with Monash University, Australia, to bring the MIG Programme to India for the very first time. Our learners stepped into a truly global innovation experience, one that pushed them to think beyond boundaries and reimagine how young minds can engage with real-world challenges. This initiative reflects JBCN’s continued commitment to building future-ready changemakers and collaborating with the world’s top universities,” said Lamiya Tambawala, senior vice president, schools & strategic partnerships, JBCN Education.
“We are delighted to have successfully concluded the inaugural Monash Innovation Guarantee (MIG) India Programme in collaboration with JBCN International School. Over the past three days, we have been inspired by the exceptional talent, intellectual curiosity, and innovative thinking demonstrated by the JBCN learners.
The seamless execution of the programme, along with the presence of distinguished industry partners from IITB-Monash Research Academy, Canva Education, Dental HQ and Sequretek and others, has set a strong foundation for future editions. We look forward to building on this momentum and deepening our engagement in India,” said associate professor Susie Ho, director, Monash Innovation Guarantee in the office of the deputy vice-chancellor, student experience.
“It’s an absolute privilege to participate in the Monash Innovation Guarantee Program at JBCN International School, Mumbai. Empowering young minds to think creatively, solve real-world problems, and embrace design thinking is at the heart of what we do. Such collaboration reaffirms the role of education in shaping the next generation of changemakers,” said Sagari, education account advocate, Canva Education
Each day layered a new phase of problem-solving – from understanding human-centred design on Day 1, to ideation and lean canvassing on Day 2, and finally, refining their pitches and presenting to an industry jury on Day 3. The final day culminated in a high-energy pitch session where learners showcased not only their ideas but also their ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead with clarity. The winning team was felicitated in a closing ceremony attended by dignitaries from both Monash University and JBCN Education.
With a network of five international schools across Borivali, Parel, Oshiwara, Chembur and Mulund in Mumbai, JBCN Education has been a pioneering organisation in the field of education for over two decades.
