On Sunday, a distressing incident occurred in Jharkhand’s Latehar district where a portion of the ceiling in a classroom of Saraidih Urdu Middle School collapsed, resulting in injuries to four class 2 students. Among them, one student is critically injured, according to an official statement.
The incident transpired at Pokhrikala in the jurisdiction of Barwadih police station, approximately 180 km away from the state capital, Ranchi. The classroom accommodated about 50 students at the time of the incident. Notably, Urdu-medium schools in the area remain operational on Sundays and are closed on Fridays.
Rakesh Sahay, the Block Development Officer for Barwadih, reported, “Among the four students, one is in critical condition and has been admitted to Medininagar Medical College and Hospital. The other three are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.”
Mohammed Ajam Khan, the school’s headmaster, highlighted the inadequate facilities, explaining that the school consists of only four rooms catering to a total of 721 students. He further noted that the condition of all four rooms is severely subpar.
