The Indian Army has launched the Jammu and Kashmir Special Scholarship Scheme 2023 to offer educational opportunities to disadvantaged students, according to officials. As part of the Army’s ‘Sadbhavana’ operation, this scholarship will support 146 students from various districts in the valley, providing each of them with Rs 1.2 lakh. The affiliated universities will cover the remaining expenses for these students, and there are 12 such universities where they will pursue their higher education.
The program aims to narrow the gap between privileged and underprivileged students by offering scholarships and financial assistance to those who demonstrate exceptional potential and dedication in the field of education.
In the Kupwara district, where hundreds of students applied, 34 students were selected based on a written test and interview. A ceremony was held in Drugmullah to bid them farewell on behalf of the Kupwara-based Army division.
This initiative also encourages students from marginalized sections of society to pursue higher education and contribute to the development of a self-reliant India. The scholarship program is gaining popularity, with more students expressing interest in pursuing higher education through this joint effort by the Indian Army and affiliated universities.
