The Jammu and Kashmir government announced its plans to fill 50,000 vacancies in various government departments in the coming few months. J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik declared the same at a press conference held at Raj Bhavan. He further asked the youth to take part in the recruitment process as this would be the largest single recruitment drive ever in the state Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh.
Over 3,000 primary schools and 1,000 middle schools have been open and efforts are being put to open up more. Malik also said that his government is working with various Central agencies to put together a scheme to provide minimum support price for apple crop in the state. The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) was willing to commit over Rs 5,000 crores for procuring over 50 percent of apple production of the state and this, in turn, would benefit over 7 lakh apple farmers.
To provide relief to the people of J&K, the govt. has also decided to open up mobile phones in all 10 districts of Jammu and would be made functional in the entire revenue district of Kupwara and Handwara police districts in the Kashmir valley. The opening of landline connections in the Kashmir valley has also been announced.
The Governor mentioned that several important decisions have been taken regarding the ongoing scenario in the Valley. The decisions are taken keeping in mind the interests of the people of J&K. The government assured to take every step that would preserve the heritage, language, and identity of the region.
Besides, Malik announced that the restoration of normalcy and deepening of democracy remained the government’s priority. Elections to Block Development Councils would be conducted and completed before the end of October.
