Overview

Jyoti Nivas College is a minority Christian College founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s of Tarbes, with affiliation to Bangalore University. The college ranks among the premier women’s institution in the state and in the country. It was conferred with five-star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 1998. In 2004 it was granted autonomous status and recognized as a college with potential for excellence by the University Grants Commission.

Jyoti Nivas College is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The college has an atmosphere to help students grow and develop as multi-faceted individuals. The college strives to imbibe a strong national sense that transcends the barriers of religion and community.

It seeks to uphold the best and most beautiful aspects of Indian heritage and tradition. Jyoti Nivas College inculcates a world view and broader outlook in life, aiming students for global citizenship and competence. Apart from academics, it also offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which includes sports, music, quiz, elocution, dramatics and journalism, NCC, NSS, Bangalore Catholic Student Association, Rotaract Club and Adventure Club.

Campus

The college campus is spread across 38786.60 square meters. The campus consists of administrative block, degree block, post graduate block, pre-university block and a research centre.

The Jyoti Nivas College library was established in 1966 in Frazer Town. In 1976 the college shifted to Koramangala. The library was first housed in small room but then it was shifted to a large hall where it gradually developed into a building. Now the library has collection of books around 30,000 and 75 periodicals and journals. The library is spacious and well ventilated.

Counseling in JNC is a service area which provides non-judgmental, confidential, and supportive techniques.

Internet connectivity is through Cisco Router with 64 KBPS internet leased line

Admission

Students should pass in their PUC examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent by Bangalore University. A minimum of 50% marks for Karnataka Students and 60% marks for outside students in qualifying examination is required to apply for admission to the college.
