Founded in 1983, the K J Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) is one of the most popular and sought after engineering institutes of western India. KJSCE is sited at Vidyavihar in Mumbai. KJSCE received permanent affiliation from University of Mumbai for all UG Courses in 2007 and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education, Government of India. The institute offers 4 year degree courses in the departments of Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering.

General Information

Admission

Undergraduate Courses Admission to all UG courses begins after the declaration of HSC/class XII and JEE (Main) results, whichever is declared later. The criteria for selection is based on the marks obtained in HSC/class XII or equivalent examination, with list of subjects and minimum percentage marks as specified by DTE and JEE (Main) examination. Admissions under the category of NRI/Gulf Worker/PIO/Foreign Nationals need not qualify JEE (Main) examination. Last date of admission and commencement date of FE term is declared by DTE. Admission process into the second year of engineering starts after declaration of results of diploma examination conducted by BTE. Last date of admission is declared by DTE and the date of term commencement is declared by the university.

Achievement

K J Somaiya College of Engineering is one of the CDEEP Remote Centers of IIT Bombay (IITB) in their initiative for the National Mission of Education through ICT, supported by MHRD to improve the skills of students and faculties in engineering discipline. Since December 2009, more than 10 workshops were conducted by IITB supported by ISTE and large numbers of faculty members from various institutes have visited KJSCE. KJSCE is also a centre for Aakash Project by IIT B for improving the effectiveness of Aakash tablets.

Accommodation

The institute offers hostel facilities to its students in one of the three hostels located on the Vidyavihar campus which is common to all students of Somaiya Group of institutions. The first floor of hostel is exclusively reserved for women and it has a separate entrance.
