Karnataka: Nominations for higher education council announced

The Karnataka government announced the appointment of members for the Karnataka State Higher Education Council on Wednesday.

It was headed previously by Bangalore University’s retired vice chancellor Prof B Thimme Gowda.

Among the members is Tumkur University’s former vice chancellor Prof Rajasab. Rajasab took charge as the VC of Tumkur University in 2013 and had served as the Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, Gulbarga University. He has also worked as a visiting professor in various countries including the USA, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Saudi Arabia.

Prof Ramachandregowda, retired VC of Gulbarga University; Prof MS Subhash, former VC, Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari, Prof Sunandamma, retired registrar of the Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Prof Devika P of the Indian Statistical Institute, educationist Prof Jayaram Melukote and Dinesh Kumar Alva, director, Mangaluru Academy of Professional Studies are among the other key members on the council.

These members have been nominated to the council for a period of five years or until they turn 70 according to the note issued by the state government.
