The Kendriya Vidyalaya at JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) campus was established in 1972 within the IIT, New Delhi campus. The school shifted to its present location in 1983 and has 4 branches – IIT (4 sections), NCERT (2 sections), JNU branch (2 sections), all up to class V, and the main school at JNU campus (from VI to XII). There are 8 sections each from classes I to XII. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and has the exclusive advantage of getting guidance from the Director, N.C.E.R.T., Director, Indian Institute of Technology, and Vice Chancellor, J.N.U.
The school has modern infrastructure including 96 classrooms, 4 science labs, 6 computer labs, a gym, maths lab, geography room, well-equipped library, 3 staff rooms with computer facility, English/Hindi activity room, art/craft room, SUPW room, ceramic lab and a fully air-conditioned conference hall.
The school offers facilities for indoor sports such as table tennis, shooting, squash, swimming pool, and yoga as well as for outdoor games like basket ball, badminton, skating, cricket and volley ball.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and offers classes from class I through class XII. The school follows the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), which allows the students to be evaluated throughout the year on academic and non-academic areas, rather than through few term exams.

Admission alert is issued by the regional office in the local newspapers in the first week of February with details on the admission schedule. For classes I to VIII there is no admission test; admission is granted on priority category system.
For admission to class IX, an admission test is conducted and a merit list prepared for each category of priority separately.
