Lavasa partners with ACCA for accountancy education

According to official sources on June 26, Mumbai headquartered Lavasa Corporation Ltd, a part of HCC enterprise has signed an agreement to offer an internationally recognised professional accountancy qualification in Lavasa, India’s first planned hill city.

The Lavasa Corporation Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the global body for professional accountants, which will pave way for the ACCA Qualification, which is equivalent to a UK Master’s degree, being offered at Lavasa. The partnership is in keeping with Lavasa’s ambitious plans to be an educational hub.

An academic delivery partner will shortly be announced by Lavasa and will be working closely with ACCA to provide courses for aspiring finance professionals. ACCA is scheduled to commence operations in September 2013. The institute plans to offer myriad of courses in accountancy which will fuel the high demand for ACCA certified employees in the financial and accounting space in India and abroad.

Commenting on the partnership, Rajgopal Nogja, COO, Lavasa Corporation Ltd said, “We are delighted to be associated with India’s first global accounting institute, ACCA and actively look forward to its launch. This initiative will reiterate our commitment towards establishing Lavasa as a centre of education with best-in-class institutes and will open new paradigms of educational experience for students in our country”.

Founded in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) supports 154,000 members and 432,000 students in 170 countries, helping them develop successful careers in accounting and business, with the skills required by employers. It works through a network of over 80 offices and centres and more than 8,400 Approved Employers worldwide.

Lavasa is India’s first hill city where people can live, work, learn and play in harmony with nature. It is an inclusive city being developed by HCC (Hindustan Construction Company) over 23,000 acres, is based on the principles of New Urbanism. It takes three hours from Mumbai and one hour from Pune to reach Lavasa by road.
