Overview

Founded in 1987 by Ganesh Narayan Podar, the Lilavatibai Senior Secondary School is a co-educational English-medium day school. It is a class I-XII school affiliated with the Delhi-based Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The school is located in Santacruz, Mumbai and is fully owned and managed by the Anandilal and Ganesh Podar Society. The objective of the school is “To promote a quality learning environment which will foster intellectual development and promote positive interaction among students”.

Campus

The school is housed within the sprawling Podar Education Complex. The campus includes a five-storeyed main building, a community hall, basketball courts, cricket nets, long jump pits, table tennis hall and a football field. All the classrooms are equipped with whiteboards and audio-visual aids. The school also hosts well-equipped science and computer labs and a well-stocked library with books and periodicals.

Academics

The school offers classes from class I-XII. It is affiliated with CISCE, Delhi and students write the board’s Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations in class X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations in class XII. Students can choose from a variety of courses in science, commerce and humanities in classes XI and XII.

Extracurricular: The school offers modern facilities and coaching for athletics, cricket, football, throw ball, gymnastics, table tennis, karate, chess, carrom and skating. Dance, drama and debates are also an integral part of the school’s extracurricular activities’ calendar.

Admission

All registration for admissions to the next academic session should be submitted online (registration submitted by email or fax will not be considered) after 1st October, for the next academic year.

Admission into class I is through a meeting with the primary school faculty members in a comfortable, informal and child friendly setting to give him/her the opportunity of getting a sense of the school environment. Every effort is made to ensure that the meeting with faculty members and the admission tests are as free from stress and anxiety as possible. The meeting with faculty members / testing procedures will be adapted to suit the age of the child.

Admission into classes II-IX is on the basis of the outcome of the meeting with faculty members or the performance in the admission entrance test, as the case may be. Thereafter, parents of shortlisted students for the admission into classes II-IX, accompanied by the student, will be invited to the school for an interaction with members of the Admissions Committee.

The true copies of the report or pass certificate for the last two years must be submitted along with the admission form.

Fees: For the primary section, the fee is Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 1,12,000 for senior secondary classes.

Achievement

The school was awarded the “International Dimension in Schools” certificate (2020-21) by the British Council in being recognized for leading the integration of international learning in the school and accredited for outstanding development of international dimension in the curriculum.

The school has also produced several national level lawn tennis champions, national level science Olympiad rankers, MaRRS International Spelling Bee rankers and national level swimming champions.

The school has won several awards including the International School Award (2008) by British Council; Best ICT enabled School of the Year by eIndia awards, Best Principal Award by Science Olympiad Foundation, and Best E-School Award by World Education Summit (2012).
