The Maharashtra government plans to conduct all competitive exams of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) in the Marathi language.
Acknowledging that engineering examinations are conducted in English since the text books are not available in Marathi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that permission has been granted for engineering courses in Marathi since the text books will now be made available in Marathi.
Accordingly, the government will prepare the syllabus of engineering examinations in Marathi and conduct competitive exams for all technical posts in Marathi.
In the State Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that substantial funds will be provided to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) run laboratories to test fake cheeses. He was replying to a question raised by legislators Vikram Pachpute and Kailas Patil. “Fake cheese or artificial cheese is definitely a threat to public health. Strict action will be taken against vendors and related parties selling this cheese,” he said.
A meeting is on the anvil with the officials concerned, public representatives and experts to discuss the sale of artificial or fake cheeses under the name of analogue cheese. After taking requisite decisions in this meeting, strict action will be taken against the sale of fake cheese,” he said.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar explained that food samples are analysed to identify adulteration in food items.
“Action can be taken on samples found to be adulterated in analysis in laboratories. For this, substantial funds will be provided for the establishment of new laboratories of the Food and Drug Administration and strengthening of laboratories,” he said.
“The existing rules will be amended to take action against the sale, storage and transportation of fake cheese. These rules will be made stricter. Also, the state government will request the concerned union minister to change central government rules in this regard,” he added.
