Higher and technical education minister of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, recently launched the “Study in Maharashtra ” initiative for admissions to professional courses in the state in the presence of additional chief secretary B. Venugopal Reddy; commissioner of the State Common Examination Board Dilip Sardesai; director, higher education, Dr. Shailendra Devlankar; director, technical education department, Dr. Vinod Mohitkar; director, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Dr. Pramod Naik and principal secretary of the finance and planning department, Saurabh Vijay, among other officials.
The aim of the ‘Study in Maharashtra’ initiative is to make the state a global hub of higher and technical education. With the adoption of modern technology, the new system will help in making the admission process of candidates easier, transparent and more efficient, said education minister Chandrakant Patil.
He said that for the academic year 2025-26, an integrated system has been launched for admitting NRI/OCI/PIO/CIWGC/FNS category candidates in professional courses across Maharashtra.
The admission process is being implemented with the reduction of human intervention in providing online facilities for foreign students. The entire admission process has been digitized. From registration to final admission, all the processes including registration, application submission, and document verification will be done completely online.
Foreign National / Foreign Students, Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Candidate, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWGC) candidates will be able to apply from home and will not be required to commute to colleges to apply in person.
“This will save time, travel and expenses and make the process more efficient,” Patil said.
